How to launch SPECTER for Apex Legends: Windows and BIOS requirements, disabling protection, Visual C++ and DirectX, the key in the loader and its error codes.
Instructions
Complete every step in order and don't skip any. The SPECTER loader for Apex Legends deploys its own hypervisor on your computer, so almost every first-launch failure comes from an unprepared system: an active antivirus, virtualization turned off or missing libraries.
What you need to launch
- Windows 10 or Windows 11, builds 21H2 to 26H2 inclusive — check your build via Win + R → winver;
- an Intel (VT-x) or AMD (AMD-V) CPU, with hardware virtualization enabled in BIOS;
- Hyper-V, WSL, VBS and HVCI turned off — the loader can disable them itself with the Fix button (step 2); you can see their state in "Windows Security" (the "Memory integrity" toggle controls HVCI) and in the "Windows Features" window (Hyper-V, "Windows Subsystem for Linux");
- Visual C++ Redistributable, all versions from 2005 to 2022, both architectures — x86 and x64;
- DirectX Runtime libraries (D3DX9, D3DX10, D3DX11, XAudio);
- enough free RAM for the hypervisor;
- any display mode in Apex Legends: fullscreen, windowed or borderless window;
- no flash drive needed.
Step 0: System preparation
1. Fully turn off your third-party antivirus and Windows Defender for the entire time you use the cheat. Adding exclusions is not enough: real-time protection treats the loader's hypervisor as a threat. How to turn off Defender: see the guide to disabling Defender.
2. If FACEIT Anti-Cheat is installed, uninstall it. The FACEIT driver stays in the system even when the client is closed and prevents the loader from starting the cheat.
3. Check virtualization: Task Manager → Performance → CPU, the "Virtualization" line. Usually it already says "Enabled", but some motherboard manufacturers turn it off. If you see "Disabled", go into BIOS and enable Intel Virtualization Technology, SVM Mode or AMD-V (the name depends on the motherboard).
4. Visual C++: you need not just one package but all versions from 2005 to 2022, each in x86 and x64 — if the system only has the x64 version 2015 or newer, the cheat often loads but doesn't work. Download versions 2015–2022 from Microsoft: vc_redist.x64.exe and vc_redist.x86.exe. Packages 2005, 2008, 2010, 2012 and 2013 (also both architectures) are on the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable downloads page. If you install everything at once with an all-in-one pack, extract the archive into an empty folder, right-click install_all.bat, choose Run as administrator and wait until all packages are installed.
5. DirectX: the overlay needs the legacy D3DX9, D3DX10, D3DX11 and XAudio libraries. Windows 10 and 11 don't have them out of the box — the installed DirectX 12 doesn't replace them. Download and run the DirectX web installer from Microsoft. If it fails with an error, download the standalone DirectX End-User Runtimes (June 2010) package from Microsoft, unpack it into a separate folder and run DXSETUP.exe from there, waiting for the installation to finish.

Step 1: Loader and key
1. You get the activation key along with your purchase.
2. Download the Loader.exe loader and save it to a separate folder; if you got an archive instead of an exe, extract it into that folder. Your browser may complain about the file — that's expected, just make sure the protection from step 0 is off.
3. Open the loader, paste the key and click Validate Key.
4. After a successful check, the loader shows the product name, subscription status and expiry date. Make sure everything matches your purchase.

Step 2: Launch the cheat, then the game
1. Apex Legends must be closed: the cheat is always launched before the game.
2. Click Launch — the loader will start loading the cheat.
3. Instead of loading, you see an Error window with a Fix button at the bottom? No need to worry, this is how the built-in auto-configuration works: the loader found Hyper-V, WSL, VBS or HVCI, which interfere with its hypervisor. Click Fix — it will disable these components itself and restart the computer. After the restart, open the loader again and click Launch. This setup is needed only once.
4. Wait for the message Cheat loaded! Open game. Launch the game only after it appears.
5. Launch Apex Legends — the SPECTER menu will appear in the game.
If the game was open before you clicked Launch, close it and repeat from item 2, otherwise the loader will show ERROR_OPENED_ANTICHEAT.
2. Click Launch — the loader will start loading the cheat.

5. Launch Apex Legends — the SPECTER menu will appear in the game.
If the game was open before you clicked Launch, close it and repeat from item 2, otherwise the loader will show ERROR_OPENED_ANTICHEAT.
Menu and hotkeys
The SPECTER menu consists of the sections AIMBOT, ESP and MISC.
Aimbot key and Triggerbot key — the keys are assigned in the AIMBOT section. The same section lets you pick bones and target bones, enable movement prediction, and set smoothing, field of view from 2 to 40, recoil compensation from 0.0 to 1.0 and advanced mode parameters.
ESP — players (glow and skeletons with color choice, box, name, distance, health and shields) and items (box, name, distance, rarity, type, ID, item list and rarity colors).
MISC — menu language (English or Russian), V-Sync, snow and menu background blur, overlay priority and "Recording bypass" for recording videos and streaming.
Aimbot key and Triggerbot key — the keys are assigned in the AIMBOT section. The same section lets you pick bones and target bones, enable movement prediction, and set smoothing, field of view from 2 to 40, recoil compensation from 0.0 to 1.0 and advanced mode parameters.

If something doesn't work
The cheat loaded, but there is no menu in the game. Almost always the system is missing the libraries the overlay is drawn with. Reinstall all Visual C++ packages (2005–2022, x86 and x64) and DirectX as described in step 0, items 4 and 5.
Errors caused by the antivirus or FACEIT:
FAILED_TO_PARSE_SYMBOLS — the loader failed to parse symbols. Restart it; if the error comes back, check the antivirus and Defender.
FAILED_TO_LOAD_VULN_DRIVER — the loader's driver failed to start; usually the antivirus or FACEIT is in the way.
FAILED_TO_LOAD_CHEAT — the cheat itself didn't load; the cause is the antivirus or missing DirectX or Visual C++.
FAILED_TO_INIT_SYSCALLS — system calls failed to initialize; check the antivirus and Visual C++.
FAILED_TO_FIND_SYMSRV_OR_DBGHELP — the loader couldn't find the components it needs; make sure you're online and the antivirus and FACEIT aren't interfering.
What to do with any code in this group: fully disable the antivirus and Defender, uninstall FACEIT AC and restart the loader.
BACKEND_TIMED_OUT, BACKEND_INTERNAL_ERROR, BACKEND_UNEXCEPTED_ERROR — the loader couldn't reach the server, most often because your ISP blocks it. Turn on a VPN and try again. If that doesn't help, contact support and we'll tell you whether maintenance is underway.
FAILED_TO_MAP_HYPERVISOR or "Not enough memory" — the hypervisor doesn't have enough free memory. Close your browser and background programs, or restart the computer and run the loader before anything else.
"CPU unsupported critical extensions" — something from Hyper-V, WSL, VBS or HVCI is running on the system. The fix is the Fix button; if it isn't there, contact support.
"Virtualization disabled or unsupported" — hardware virtualization is not active. Enable it in your motherboard's BIOS, as in step 0, item 3.
"Offsets initialization failed" — your Windows build is not supported (support goes up to 26H2). If your build is newer, the cheat won't run until a loader update is released. Send support the full build number from winver.
INVALID_HWID — the key binding doesn't match the hardware. The HWID can only be reset through support.
TRIAL_ALREADY_USED — a trial key has already been activated on this hardware (only happens with trial keys). Contact support.
KEY_BANNED — the key has been banned. Contact support and we'll find out what happened.
ERROR_OPENED_ANTICHEAT — an anti-cheat was running when the cheat started. Close all games with anti-cheat and launch the cheat before the game.
Error 19 — restart, and right after that, before any other programs, load the cheat again.
